Wireless broadband security

Unless you enable the security features of your wireless broadband,
the confidentiality of your email and web browsing is at risk.  Also,
others could be using your internet bandwidth from nearby houses,
cars or boats.  Don’t make yourself an easy target!

We offer a competitive service to implement the built-in security
features of your wireless broadband router and configure the
computers you want to allow to connect.

Data recovery

It happens all too often:  Your hard drive starts failing. You reboot your
PC, and Windows won’t start.  You’ve lost all your data.  Any backups
you have are too old, and don’t include critical files.

Quite often, it’s possible to retrieve some or all files from
damaged hard drives.  We offer a no-result, no fee service, so
you can’t lose!  Simple hourly rate applies of £45 per hour.  We’ll
burn any data we backup to DVD for you so you can copy it back onto
your new hard drive or new computer.  We also offer data recovery of deleted
files from healthy drives.

PHP solutions

Solutions for web content management

eCreate's own WebCanvas product is a complete web content management (WCMS) product which is available under the LGPL licence. Designed as an application framework, it can be extended to accomodate project requirements which would not typically be catered for by an off-the-shelf package.

Features include a straightforward admin GUI, use of Dreamweaver templates, image library and simple image upload, as well as a simple plugin system and several useful plugins supplied as standard, like breadcrumb navigation, search results, contact form processing and more.

Other PHP development

eCreate is a contributor of both GPL and LGPL PHP code and libraries to minimise development time and costs.  Of course, when we develop for clients, we can draw on our extensive code base to bring greater value and shorter development cycles to a contract.  We currently contribute code to PHPClasses.org and HotScripts.com.  We also have a project running on SourceForge.net.

Why develop a PHP - based content management solution for your company?  What makes PHP better than Java or Perl for content management solutions?  Well, PHP is justifiably considered to be an 'agile' language - that is, rapid application development is arguably easiest in PHP.  Of course, arguments abound that PHP code is 'messy', doesn't separate logic from presentation, etc., but this is all in the implementation.  A well-designed application can be written in any language.  The difference with PHP is that it's quick to deploy, doesn't have the same learning curve as Java, and has an excellent developer community behind it.  For an interesting discussion on Java vs. PHP for content management applications, see this article on The Serverside.  Recently, we've started to concentrate on PHP5 code, since this release of the language is starting to reach maturity.
